FILING A COMPLAINT

For over 100 years, REALTORS® have subscribed to one of the oldest Codes of Ethics for any trade organization. The Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) defines the bylaws by which REALTORS® must oblige in both performance and service. When there is an alleged violation of the Code of Ethics, a complaint may be filed against a REALTOR® member of a local board. But not all real estate licensees are REALTORS®. By joining a local REALTOR® board, members agree to abide by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®’ Code of Ethics as a condition of membership. It is because of their obligation that a complaint may be filed.
