ALASKA REALTORS® LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE ACADEMY?

The Alaska Leadership Academy is modeled after the National Association of REALTORS®. In 2021 the Alaska REALTORS® proudly graduated its first class of candidates. The Academy engages the participants in a year-long professional development program through five sessions held across the state. Participants work together in training courses, combining individual study, group session and actual project experience in using leadership skills. Training sessions include identification of leadership skills, team-building exercises, procedures for goal setting, personal profile analysis, network building and improving communication skills.

Leadership program overview

The Alaska REALTORS® Leadership Academy (ARLA) is a nine-month leadership development opportunity for REALTOR® members to explore their personal and professional development journey. The academy is broken into four sessions, across the state along with individual monthly coaching sessions with seasoned leadership coaches.

The Alaska REALTORS® and our volunteer leaders are excited to invite you to explore growth, network and find your leadership style/strength where you can thrive and succeed.

January 14-15, 2025 (Anchorage)                                                                                                                            Session 1: Leveraging Your Leadership Style

Session 1 is one of two opportunities where the candidate will have two full days of instruction. This session will set the foundation and expectation for all sessions and begin with exploring your leadership style and setting individual goals. Leveraging your leadership style focuses on personal leadership and authenticity.  Session 1 coincides with the Alaska REALTORS® Leadership Engagement Conference, held annually to orientate the incoming leadership and focus on priorities. The conference is encouraged, but not expected.

An outcome from each ARLA class is a project, you get to create, and see come to fruition. The service project is a vehicle to identify and create a plan to assist the State or a local association to better serve our members.

March 3 - 4, 2025 (Juneau)                                                                                                                                     Session 2: Advocacy and Volunteer Leadership

Session 2 will focus on a deep dive into Advocacy as a member benefit. The session will focus on RPAC, the Alaska legislative structure, understanding the Three-way Agreement (Local, State and National), and ways to get involved on the regional and national levels.

This session coincides with the Alaska REALTORS® Leadership Fly-in to Juneau. Participants will have the opportunity to visit their Legislator, learn about legislative priorities and gain an understanding of the legislative process. Participants will need to plan on arriving in Juneau on March 2, 2025.

June 9-10, 2025 (Fairbanks)                                                                                                                                                                    Session 3: Finding Your Voice

Session 3 focuses on finding your voice through tools and techniques.  There will be hands-on training to help participants learn how to control their voices, the importance of body language, and utilizing “storytelling” as a means to communicate effectively.  Finding Your Voice will have the greatest impact on the candidates, because they will see immediate results.

Participants should be in Fairbanks on June 8 with a departure on June 10, 2025.

September 9-10, 2025 (Alyeska)                                                                                                                      Session 4: Overcoming limitations & Graduation

Session 4 is a two-day session and culmination of all the sessions and individualized coaching. The session focuses on understanding and overcoming limitations (personal and professional) and will create the pathway toward presentation excellence and creating and maintaining high performance networks.

There will be a graduation with class speeches and final project presentations to the association Board of Directors.  Participants should be arriving in Alyeska on September 8, 2025.
