2023 Alaska REALTORS® Candidates
The Alaska REALTORS® is please to present the following nominees for the Board of Directors. The Credential Committee reviewed all applicants in accordance to the qualifying criteria. Due to constitutional changes implemented by the National Association of REALTORS®, this year only, the Board of Directors will be voting on the initial slate of NAR Directors for the Small Board NAR Director and Medium Board NAR Director. On August 17th the Board will vote on the appointment for the 2023-2024 terms.
Beginning August 25, 2022 membership will receive an electronic ballot for the 2023 President-Elect, Secretary/Treasurer and the 3-year terms for the Small Board and Medium Board NAR Directors. All the names will appear on this ballot. The election results will be announced during the General Membership meeting on September 23, 2022.

In 2021 I had the opportunity to serve as the Convention Chair for the Kachemak Board of REALTORS® and to be introduced to the impressive leadership at the Alaska REALTORS® board level. I knew then, I wanted to be part of an organization which values professionalism, leadership development, volunteerism and engagement. As the KBR President this year, my eyes were once again opened to the many opportunities where REALTOR® members can make a difference on the local, state and national levels. The National Association of REALTORS® mid-year experience inspired me to get further involved on the NAR committee level. Serving on the NAR Safety Committee has provided a platform where I can share how Safety is all encompassing, especially for Alaska.
I am asking for your support for 2023 President-Elect. I do not believe in status quo or doing things because this is how it’s been done. Chairing the convention is a testament to my tenacity and resourcefulness, I want to bring these attributes to the state. Our industry is changing daily and I want to utilize my energy to create enthusiasm for the REALTOR® value proposition, to strengthen our volunteer leadership, and to enhance the association’s position as “The Voice for Real Estate” in Alaska. My name is Margaret Billinger, I have been in the real estate business for over 22 years and have filled every officer position in my local association, the Valley Board of REALTORS®. I have served on the Alaska REALTORS® Board of Directors, participated in many National Association of REALTORS® conventions, and have consistently been recognized as an ARPAC Major Investor.
The opportunity to engage on the national level is something I aspire to. I firmly believe in the REALTOR® member and I want to represent the small local associations and the state. My commitment is to identify more ways for members participation and to bring back to the association the value of “Stepping up your game” through education, Broker supervision, and individuals appreciating the value of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics.
I believe in our members and I will work hard to bring our voice to the national table and represent Alaska. I would appreciate your vote as the small board representative.

I am running for the new NAR Small Director position. I manage the Keller Williams Realty Alaska Group and have been a REALTOR® for 37+ years. I have held the position of NAR Director for the Alaska REALTORS® for a number of years. I love this position and believe I have served the state and NAR well in my tenure.
I am passionate about the need for Alaska to be an integral part of our larger trade association. The role of a NAR Director votes on changes to the association, which affect all of us and our business. Alaska is a leader on the national level, and I want to continue to ensure we are relevant and knowledgeable members.
Since 1997 I have been a member of the Valley Board of REALTORS® and a secondary member of the Anchorage Board of REALTORS® since 1982. As an active REALTOR®, I appreciate the camaraderie I find with our members. My local and state volunteer leadership includes: Past-President of the Valley Board and the Alaska REALTORS®, current NAR Director and service on state and national committees. In addition, I received one of the highest honors from my peers on the local and state level; REALTOR® of the Year twice for VBR, and in 2015 ROTY for the Alaska REALTORS®.
Born and raised in Alaska, I live in Palmer with my spouse of 42-years, Vince. We have 3 grown children and their spouses: John and Jennifer, Katie and Leif, and Dr. Kristen Coan Howard and Dr. Chris Howard; and one grandson, Canyon Sivertsen.

I have been involved in real estate for 21 years, served as local association president, Alaska State President in 2015, Alaska Treasurer 2017-2018, National Leadership Academy graduate in 2016, and served on numerous National committees and Chair for Residential Economics & Issues for NAR in 2023.
