Scholarship Application

The Dave Feeken Scholarship Foundation, Inc. was established in 2010 in
memory of REALTOR® Dave Feeken. The Scholarship Foundation is designed to
assist persons in the real estate field who are seeking to obtain a related
designation such as GRI (Graduate, Realtors Institute), CPM (Certified
Property Manager), CRS (Certified Residential Specialist), CAE (Certified
Realtor Executive), CRB (Certified Real Estate Broker Manager) and the many
other designation and certifications in the real estate related fields.

Dave Feeken was involved in the REALTOR® organization for over 20 years. He
served as the Alaska Association of REALTORS® president in 1995 and received
REALTOR® of the Year honor from the Association in 1996 and in 2005. He also
served as the AAR Industry Issues chair and was instrumental in having the
REALTOR® organization be heard in Juneau on legislation that affected private
property rights. He served as a National Association of REALTORS® Director
from 1997-1999 along with serving on numerous National Committees since
1994.

The Scholarship Foundation is a tax-exempt foundation; therefore, applicants
are encouraged regardless of any affiliation.  Recipients are chosen on a
non-discriminatory basis without preference for employment or affiliation
with any real estate firm, broker, or membership in a professional
organization.

Scholarships are for tuition only and are limited to one person per calendar
year; no more than one course with a beginning date during any calendar year
shall be considered.  Scholarships will be granted for the course requested
and only for such courses that lead to a real estate related professional
designation or certification. The Officers of the Foundation will determine
the dollar amount of the scholarships for a particular course, which may
vary from time to time, depending upon the funds available. The Officers
include President, Helen Jarratt; Secretary, Terry Bryan; Treasurer, Don
McKenzie; Director Emeritus, Glenda Feeken; and Director Ex-Officio Bob Manwaring.

Realtors® Applaud CFPB’s Extended TRID Implementation Deadline

WASHINGTON (July 21, 2015) — The following is a statement by National Association of Realtors® President Chris Polychron in support of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s announcement today that the Truth in Lending Act and Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act Integrated Disclosure, or TRID, implementation date has been moved from August 1 to October 3:

“NAR has worked diligently with the CFPB throughout this process, helping to ensure that the upcoming harmonization of TILA-RESPA disclosures is carried out with as little disruption to the industry as possible. In addition, NAR has worked hard to ensure our members have everything they need to comply with the rules while continuing the business of real estate without interruption.

“August is a busy time for Realtors®, as home buying and selling picks up around the summer season. CFPB’s recognition of the challenge that an August implementation posed for the industry is a big win for Realtors®, for lenders, for consumers and for everyone involved.

“An October 3 implementation will help ensure that our industry has time to prepare for the changes ahead while helping consumers get to closing without delay.

“NAR will continue to keep members updated on the rule and ensure they have the tools to comply with the changes coming their clients’ way. We will also continue communicating any Realtor® concerns about the implementation to the CFPB and look forward to a continued partnership as the TRID rule goes into effect later this year.”
