Scholarship Application

The Dave Feeken Scholarship Foundation, Inc. was established in 2010 in
memory of REALTOR Dave Feeken. The Scholarship Foundation is designed to
assist persons in the real estate field who are seeking to obtain a related
designation such as GRI (Graduate, Realtors Institute), CPM (Certified
Property Manager), CRS (Certified Residential Specialist), CAE (Certified
Realtor Executive), CRB (Certified Real Estate Broker Manager) and the many
other designation and certifications in the real estate related fields.

Dave Feeken was involved in the REALTOR organization for over 20 years. He
served as the Alaska Association of REALTORS president in 1995 and received
REALTOR of the Year honor from the Association in 1996 and in 2005. He also
served as the AAR Industry Issues chair and was instrumental in having the
REALTOR organization be heard in Juneau on legislation that affected private
property rights. He served as a National Association of REALTORS Director
from 1997-1999 along with serving on numerous National Committees since
1994.

The Scholarship Foundation is a tax-exempt foundation; therefore, applicants
are encouraged regardless of any affiliation.  Recipients are chosen on a
non-discriminatory basis without preference for employment or affiliation
with any real estate firm, broker, or membership in a professional
organization.

Scholarships are for tuition only and are limited to one person per calendar
year; no more than one course with a beginning date during any calendar year
shall be considered.  Scholarships will be granted for the course requested
and only for such courses that lead to a real estate related professional
designation or certification. The Officers of the Foundation will determine
the dollar amount of the scholarships for a particular course, which may
vary from time to time, depending upon the funds available. The Officers
include President, Helen Jarratt; Secretary, Terry Bryan; Treasurer, Don
McKenzie; Director Emeritus, Glenda Feeken; and Director Ex Officio Bob Manwaring.

NAR Board Approves Nationwide Broker Data Entry System

The NAR Board of Directors at its 2015 meeting May 16 in Washington, D.C., approved a partnership between NAR and its wholly owned subsidiary Realtors Property Resource® and another company, UpStream RE, LLC, to create a data entry and collection system for the brokerage community using the RPR® advanced Multi-list platform (AMP™). The system will give brokerages a single place to input their listing data for distribution on multiple platforms online, including Realtor.com, local MLSs, and broker websites. The initiative will be funded using NAR operating reserves over 36 months, at a net amount not to exceed $12 million.

The Board of Directors meeting closed out the 2015 REALTORS® Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo, attended by 8,000 REALTORS® and guests. The weeklong meetings included hundreds of visits by REALTORS® to their members of Congress to advocate on behalf of the real estate industry.

Prior to the vote on the data entry system, NAR CEO Dale Stinton described this latest initiative as an important strategic “pivot” for NAR and RPR® that helps brokers maintain control of their listing data while accomplishing long-sought technology objectives of real estate brokerage companies, MLSs, and associations by creating a single back-end entry point for all listing data that is then distributed to all the end-points identified by the broker.
